The Charlotte Hornets are going to be giving Brandon Miller an extension… at some point. He’s currently extension-eligible coming off of this third NBA season.
Miller looks the part of a franchise cornerstone. 6-foot-8 wings that score 20 point per game do not grow on trees, and while he’s certainly a valuable player, he also has yet to make an All-Star game or get All-NBA consideration.
That makes projecting his contract extension much more difficult.
Most project Miller to make between $35-39M annually on his contract extension.
However, there’s a situation developing in the NBA that I think the Hornets are going to look at as the playbook for how they will (eventually) handle Miller’s extension.
Let’s dive into it.
