I created a model to predict who the Charlotte Hornets would draft. How did I do?

The Charlotte Hornets’ training camp is beginning soon. I want to talk about some of the player acquisition predictions I made this offseason.

The NBA offseason has come and gone, and I think it’s more present than ever that the Charlotte Hornets placed an emphasis on analytics.

Throughout the past few months we got numerous quotes from Hornets GM Jeff Peterson about analytics and the role it plays within the organization.

While I wouldn’t classify Charlotte as a team enslaved by numbers, it certainly appears to be a guiding principle of how the front office wants to go about building a team.

That’s why I wrote an article in early May predicting who the Hornets would be higher on in the 2026 NBA Draft based on an analytical equation based upon what I consider to be traits the franchise values most.
